Roseyn Hood begins her 29th year as a public educator with a career that has included work in three states in positions spanning from the classroom to the national level. Most recently, she served as the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation’s Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Officer in Southern Indiana. Prior to relocating to Evansville, Ms. Hood resided in Denver, Colorado serving for 3 years as the Associate Commissioner of Strategic Partnerships & Innovation for the state’s Department of Education, and for 2 years as Director of Operations for Denver Public School’s Beacon Network Schools- a Innovation Zone serving students grades 6-12 at 3 sites.
Ms. Hood started her career in the Phoenix area, spending over 2 decades at the classroom, building and district levels in 3 different school districts. Her 15 years in leadership included positions in high school administration including a principalship, Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director and Assistant Principal/Activities. Also active and engaged outside the classroom, she has coached Track & Field, Tennis, Cross Country and Spritiline, as well as sponsoring Student Council, the Black Student Alliance and participating in a student/faculty Gospel Choir. She consistently pushed and promoted increased access to and the diversification of rigorous/accelerated courses, increased participation in the extra-curricular and athletic arenas and increased exposure to all of the options available in the collegiate landscape.
Ms. Hood’s passion is grounded in the belief that every learner must be afforded the opportunity, experiences and environment to maximize their full potential, and that the role of education is to ensure all are intentionally prepared for an expansive, challenging, rewarding future including the post-secondary arena. Ms. Hood holds a BA in Political Science and Religion from Duke University. She completed both her Post-Baccalaureate and Masters in Educational Administration & Supervision from the University of Phoenix. She is honored to be the mom of 4 sons- Tevin, Jaxon, Langston and Sheridan, and a daughter-in-law, Amanda.
