DEBORAH “DEBBIE” OMONIYI (SEED MD ’20)

For many students, move-in day each year means waiting in long lines with other eager students, joyful reunions, and picking the “best” bunk before your roommates arrive. For Deborah “Debbie” Omoniyi (SEED MD ’20), move-in day is less about this annual ritual and more about moving one step closer to college.

With the summer behind her, Debbie is eager to start her senior year by learning all she can about the college application process.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about applying for scholarships—I know I can’t afford college on my own, and I want to make sure I can go to and graduate from a great school! To help guide me, I met with my college counselor, Ms. Harris. We talked about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and scholarship opportunities that I can get started on right away.”

Next fall, Debbie hopes to attend either Spelman College or Temple University.
