College Counseling

SEED’s college counseling program fosters a college-bound culture among students and provides resources and guidance throughout the college admissions process.  Many SEED students may be the first in their families to graduate from college.  Educating students and their families about the admissions process is therefore critical to ensuring students are successful in gaining admission to the colleges and universities of their choice.

The college and career prep program focuses on providing resources, instruction and guidance to the school community.  The program assists students and their families with all aspects of the college application process, including testing, writing strong essays, completing and submitting applications, applying for financial aid, identifying scholarship opportunities and, ultimately, choosing the right school to meet the student’s needs and goals.

A critical component of the college and career prep program is the spring college tour for juniors, during which students travel throughout a region of the nation to visit colleges.  This tour exposes students to a variety of colleges, teaches them how to identify colleges that meet their needs and interests and highlights the qualifications and application requirements necessary to gain admission and succeed in different schools.
